Respiratory Symptoms Risk

v2

Respiratory Symptoms Risk scores are tailored to reflect a user’s level of respiratory symptoms. Higher risk scores reflect increasing similarity to vocal characteristics observed in people with asthma, COPD, and similar chronic airway conditions.

Respiratory Symptom Risk scores can be used to detect or monitor respiratory symptoms in various conditions.

Symptoms that drive the Respiratory Symptom Risk scores may include:

  • Shortness of breath

  • Cough

  • Chest tightness or pain

User instruction: “In this activity, I want you to take a breath and hold the vowel sound ‘Ahhh’ like in the word ‘father’. Please hold that sound for 6 seconds or until you run out of breath”

Elicitation: “Ahhh”
Duration: 6 seconds

Note: This activity is conducted twice by the user. Both recordings are used to generate the score as described in the next column

Respiratory Symptom Risk scores range from 0-100 with higher scores indicating higher relative risk levels.

Score ranges include:

  • Low risk: 0-64

  • High risk: 65-100

Disclaimer: scores and labels are indicators of relative risk based on the user’s vocal similarity to people with that score in Sonde’s digital biobank. The Respiratory Symptom Risk measure does not diagnose any respiratory or other condition and cannot be used in the medical evaluation or treatment of any condition.

Scores can be used as early indicators of the potential presence or potential changes in respiratory symptoms. Confirmation requires evaluation by a medical professional.
